Absence from work is costing UK businesses £11.6 billion each year (1). Around 15% of that results from people who can't face work because of stress and relationship problems. Recent research by HBOS (2) discovered that difficulties with personal and workplace relationships was one of the top four causes of short term absences.

A fulfilling personal life is an invaluable 'support system' for staff who work in challenging and demanding roles; whilst alternatively stressful situations at work will often impact on family relationships at home.

With initiatives such as the Health and Safety Executive's new stress management standards (3) employers are taking a fresh look at the ways in which they audit and reduce stress, and Relate is working with many types of employers to find the most appropriate ways to support staff.

How do Clients' rate our services?

Relate Nottinghamshire clients are asked to complete a questionnaire about the service they have received when they finish a course of counselling. The new questionnaire was introduced in 2002 and for the second year more than 99% of respondents say that they found the counselling helpful, and they would recommend it to others.

Costs

Relate's services are designed to be cost effective and accessible. The costing of services to you will reflect the customised elements of your requirements allowing you to tailor a package to suit your budget and will include:

• a management fee to establish, support and evaluate the service
• a charge for each hourly sessions delivered by counsellors to staff of your organisation
