Who Are Our Trainers?
Training Team Leader - Kate Harvey
Originally from a nursing background, Kate made the switch form the NHS to the voluntary sector in 1984 when she worked for a mental health organisation. During this time she trained as a counsellor and then went to work for Nottingham Council for Voluntary Service as a training officer whilst undertaking further qualifications in adult education. Kate joined Relate in January 2000, she has been a Relate trainer since 2003 and was appointed as training team leader in 2004. Since then she has been busy building the training profile of Relate Nottinghamshire by consolidating areas of expertise and exploring new areas of work.
Ian Lambert
An experienced relationship counsellor and trainer, Ian recently spent six months in Australia and trained in Family counselling whilst there. Ian has many years of experience as a trainer and is particulary interested in working with people struggling with the stresses of the increasing demands of every day life. He has had a long successful training relationship with two Family Centres working with parents of children with disabilities both in a training and support capacity. He is always keen to collaborate with initiatives promoting better family relationships.
Harvinder Gaotora
Harvinder is originally from a social work background. She trained as a Relate counsellor in 1992 and then joined the training team in 2004. She has a particular interest in working with women and all people from disadvantaged or socially excluded groups. She has worked within the Asian Community with particular success.
Liz Blatherwick
Liz began her counselling career with Lincoln Relate in the early nineties, and subsequently undertook further counselling qualifications. From 1997 she worked as a counsellor and trainer for Broxtowe College, designing and delivering training in assertiveness, stress management, and listening skills for students. She also delivered staff development training for college staff and external agencies.
Liz came to Relate Nottinghamshire as a counsellor in 2003 and joined the training team later that year.
