EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing) is a therapy that helps individuals to recover from symptoms of emotional distress. Often these symptoms are a result of a disturbing life experience. It does not matter if these life experiences are capital “T” traumatic events resulting in PTSD, or lower case “t” traumatic events, they can both can have a long lasting negative effect on emotional wellbeing. EMDR helps the brain to process traumatic events by using eye movements (similar to the process of REM sleep).
